Update on
our Zoo animals
The original petting zoo
enclosure and barn were in place sans animals (except ghosts of...) when we
purchased The Park. It probably was the selling point for me. A way
to legitimately keep animals as pets for profit! Our Zoo Food dispensers
have proven to be popular and generate quite an outstanding profit! This
has enabled me to rationalize "New Zoo 2", currently under construction; a
second enclosure and barn for my animals... pasture rotation is important you
know.
Baby Goin' was my sweet airplane-eared, black and white fainting goat. He went everywhere with us and was quite The Park Ambassador.... That is until I negligently tied him to the truck and the truck went to town.... I still cry over it and feel so bad... that's all I'm going to say.
New additions include two approximately one year old miniature Zebu; Zeke & Zach (otherwise known as Siegfried & Roy). Zeke (Siegfried) is the more common-colored grey one and continues to be somewhat reserved and shy. Zach is gregarious and curious, allowing us to easily pet and fly spray him. Both display the characteristics that typify Brahman cattle: resistance to disease, heat tolerant, thick, twitchy skin, the hump over their shoulders and dewlap (pendulous fold of skin under the throat of a bovine... not to be confused with the more common "donelap" prevalent amongst middle aged men!)
Have we introduced you to "Fabio" our Park mascot? He's on our cartoon logo and visits the Zoo Crew on occasion. An 8 year old Friesian Sport Horse sadly with the temperament under saddle of his dam, a Standardbred (wild) but on the ground as sweet as pie. He's too pretty to send away, basically just a yard ornament, but which of my horses aren't at this point in time?!
Although both are bulls, they're best buddies and have yet to demonstrate any "bullish" or aggressive behavior. They also received high praise from a more cattle oriented friend who's not inclined that way. Procrastination pays off once again in regards to their still being bulls (intact!) They are taming up fast, are docile, easy keepers, have meshed well with our little herd, and I think everybody should have one! Plans include training them to pull our stagecoach and making our fortune breeding and profiting from the next great animal fad!

(The following will be added to the
corresponding pictures)
Have you met Charles our tabby
cat? He was a scrawny, yowling stray destined to get the big boot out of here
when I relented, had him fixed, and discovered he's a pretty good cat after all.
A great mouser, he and Zero are like Zeke and Zach, pretty much inseparable!
The goats Gert and Gret are
1and1/2 years old now. Plans are to have them bred this winter in anticipation
of Spring "Kids". To go LaMancha or Boer, that is the question... you'll just
have to wait and see.
